White Bowl

Description: A simple and effective white shallow bell-form bowl set on a clear foot. As is typical with this factory’s work this piece has an unintentional trail of solid white colouring scrolling through the mottled colouring. Much of Nazeing’s production has frit, or additional colours accidentally incorporated to the main colour. The trail would have likely attracted their main buyer, Major Elwell’s, attention, since he marketed pieces like this as “hand made” within an antique tradition. C1930’.
NB: This piece was used in the ”Blown in London” exhibition held at Grays Antique Market, November 27th to December 15th, 2000, item number 18.
